To those standing in the gap for God
on behalf of your college athletic department,
Many of you are in the beginning
stages of being a spark plug on your campus for the gospel. At times it
will be exciting and new and at other times it will be challenging and
discouraging. Our human tendency will be to measure ourselves or our
progress by numbers involved etc. While numbers give us great opportunity
for impact they are not the desired end result or mark of success. Our
success will be seeing “multiplying movements” on our campuses.
What does this
mean? It means we aren’t just a
ministry or even a club on campus with AIA but we are the “transformational
community” that is making an ongoing difference for the gospel in the lives of
coaches and athletes. See the “Trusting God for Spiritual Movements”
article here
.
As
you consider movement building on your campus realize
this:
“…the implied variable under girding
all this activity is prayer. As we’ve already stated, ministry work apart
from communion with the Father will not produce the lasting fruit we seek.
We are not simply asking God to bless our ideas of what should happen, but
asking him to “establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90) that He has given us
to do.” (taken from the “Trusting God for Spiritual Movements” article)
No matter if you find yourself
bouncing off the walls at what God is doing on your campus or you are
overwhelmed or even discouraged with your efforts: you can control the under
girding of prayer and spending time with God. God is the one in the
movement building business so seek him diligently.
Our team is seeking Him on your
behalf,
