To those courageously standing in the gap between a merciful and Holy God and athletes on their campus who’ve yet to know Him,

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

You are the workers.  You and your teammates are the workers that we have prayed for and your campus is the harvest.  It is plentiful! Jesus promises that the harvest is plentiful.  Take a look at this combine.  This one combine is gathering all the harvest.  You might be the one combine on your team or your ministry might be the few workers that really are working to bring in the harvest on your campus for Jesus.  But open your eyes to see the harvest is plentiful and he will use you and your ministry to bring in the harvest.

In John 4:39-42, many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did."  So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.  And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world."

This scripture says, they believed because of the woman at the well’s testimony to the Samaritans.  If you share your story of how Jesus Christ changed you and how he walks with you daily people can’t help but want to know more about this amazing Savior.

Click here to learn how to write and share your testimony in a clear and powerful way that points others to Jesus.

After preparing and practicing your testimony with someone, challenge your athletes to share their story to their teammates, coaches, fans, opponents, classmates and friends.  Make sure Jesus is shown to be the Hero - that is one way to be the worker and see the harvest come in.  Go out in pairs and have the more experienced share first and the other listen and pray.  There is no better way to overcome fears than to work together.

Secondly, don’t just leave people at your experience with Jesus, give them the chance just like the woman at the well did.  She brought them to Jesus to hear and see that he is indeed the Savior of the world.  Talk them through the basics of the Gospel.  You can use the four spiritual laws or you can be as creative as you want.  Follow the Holy Spirit’s leading and boldly proclaim the forgiveness of sins and the love of Jesus Christ.  Remember the HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL but the workers are few!

We dare you to challenge your group to be intentional about sharing their testimonies and the Gospel.  What will it take for you to really see a movement?
